Diesel multiple units (a Class 114 on the left, Class 120 on the right) stand in the former Midand Railway station at Lincoln St Marks on 31st May 1978 still fully semaphore signalled and complete with classic MR signal box. We had arrived on the 114 which is now signalled to return to Newark. Transfer between the two platforms was via a boarded crossing so despite appearances I am not in a position of danger! Through freight trains still ran beyond the High Street level crossing behind the camera. Opened in 1846 and closed in 1985, today St Marks is a shopping centre and although the station building has been incorporated into the complex little evidence of the railway's presence remains.
