The leading car in this view, Driving Motor Second Lavatory (DMSL) M50482, eventually ended its working life at Preston on January 19th 1986, when working as a two-car set formed of M53482 & M53433, it had a head-on collision with Class 47 47111 just South of Preston station following braking problems. 53482 lanquished for some time in Dock Street Sidings at Preston covered over with a tarpaulin until it was scrapped on-site.
