On Thursday 31 July 1958 a diesel "land cruise" ran from Glasgow and Paisley carrying 900 holidaymakers to Largs, Ayr and Girvan. Four twin Met-Camm DMUs were used, here passengers are disembarking at Largs where they had an hour and a half to visit the sea front.
