In late 1960 Stratford depot borrowed some Marylebone quad DMU sets to allow the replacement of the Great Eastern line electrics between Shenfield and Chelmsford to be replaced by steam and diesels while the overhead lines were converted to ac. Here a set led by M51679 (with oval buffers) is seen leading one of those services at Shenfield.
