The underframe equipment under one of the experimental Paxman diesel-electric vehicles, believed to be 9821. The engine is to the left, generator to the right. The fire system components were of the same type used on some regular DMUs: the flame switch under the BRC&W works plate; the fire alarm control panel further to the right; and two fire extinguishers can just be seen, one on either side of the engine/generator. Taken at Derby on 14 October 1956. Photograph courtesy of and © Paxman Archive Trust, series 2 negative 6360.
