A London-bound HST set, with E43100 leading eases its way off the swing bridge and through Selby as a Metro-Cammell Class 111 2-car unit waits to set off for York on a service from Hull on 15th May 1979. The leading car of the DMU is E50134 which was the first of the Rolls-Royce engined Class 111s, introduced in 1957. This particular car still retains its original marker light formation. Selby's signal box and banner signals are also still in use on this former stretch of the East Coast Main Line.
