Ayr Variety. BRCW Class 104 DMC at Ayr with M53505 leading a six car lash up, typical of the times. Despite a 'Carnforth' destination screen the train is heading for Glasgow Central! The imposing building in the background is the Station Hotel. Post closure, this building was allowed to go to rack and ruin. Its condition in 2019 forced temporary closure of the through roads to Girvan and Stranraer for a period of time and severly restricted operations in the rest of the station. January 1984.
