A Cravens Class 105 Power-Twin with Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M50772 at the rear, was awaiting departure from Bamber Bridge with a Preston to Colne service on May 15th 1981. The Newton Heath allocated Power-Twin sets were once synonymous with the ex L&Y lines in Lancashire and were regular performers on the East Lancashire route from Preston to Colne. Just visible in the distance is the brick bridge that takes the M6 Motorway across the railway. The bridge was the first to carry a Motorway across a railway in the UK, with the M6 Preston By-Pass between Bamber Bridge (now junction 29) and Broughton (now junction 32) that opened in December 1958.
