This photo of a power-twin on 1F23 Southport to Lime Street service was taken at Stanley looking north but before I became signalman at Edge Lane. Incidentally I never saw any of these Cravens units on this service whilst at Edge Lane. The Southport to Lime Street DMU service was introduced from about April 1966. From 18 April 1966 to 5 March 1967 the timings were 1F05 0925 Southport to Lime Street 1F23 1525 Southport to Lime Street 1F98 1805 Lime Street to Southport 1F99 2125 Lime Street to Southport The headcode of C2 should refer to ECS working from Lime Street to Wigan NW. There was no headcode allocated for the Lime St to Southport service. The only headcodes for Lime Street were; Second character Lime St to or from - Kenyon Jcn 1 Wigan NW 2 Crewe 3 Allerton sidings 4 Chester General 5 Manchester Piccadilly 6 Warrington Central 7 Wigan NW to or from - Allerton Sidings 9
