The interior of the main line part of Manchester Victoria really suited black & white photography. In this picture dated 26 June 1984 a class 104 (M53482 closest - or maybe it was still M50482 at this point) is waiting to leave for Blackburn as 40091 passes on the though road with an oil train from Stanlow to Leeds. The class 25, 25307, is waiting to give the class 40's train some banking assistance up the stiff climb to Miles Platting.
