Southbound from Sunderland. Two two-car Class 101 DMUs leave Sunderland with a service for (apparently) Middlesbrough. The photo is from either late 1979 or early 1980, probably the latter. The viewpoint for the photo is just off Burden Road, where the railway plunges into Sunderland South Tunnels. Another Met-Camm is just seen on the left.
