A Huddersfield to Sheffield service gets away from Penistone station on a misty November day in 1984. The train will join the former Woodhead route more or less at the end of the platform and diverge from it to gain the Barnsley route a couple of miles or so down the line at the site of West Silkstone Junction, where the electrification would once have continued on to Wath. In this view the Woodhead route gantries can still be seen, though the wires are down. Tracks were still in situ from here to Dunford Bridge at this time, and would remain for a couple more years.
