With Class 142 142045 stood at Leyland with a Liverpool Lime Street to Preston service, a Class 108/104 three-car hybrid DMU was passing on the Up Fast with a Heysham Harbour to Stockport 'limited stop' service on June 19th 1987. The Buxton allocated DMU had been a long way from its home depot and was formed of cars M53925, M59144 & M52065. Following withdrawal by Northern in 2019, 142045 eventually found a new home at Kirk Merrington Primary School in County Durham in 2020.
