The "Inter-city" DMUs had a short tenure on the Cardiff - Crewe line. By the time they were re-allocated to Cardiff they were on their last legs, and loco-hauled substitutions became common - one such set of coaches being formed from the centre cars from these sets. Here, one is dumped in Hereford yard, presumably after a failure. It looks like the Stirling - Newton Abbot Motorail is passing...!
