Freshly painted DMUs in Swindon Works on 20 September 1982. There seems to be plenty of mechanical work underway, note the large extractors above the vehicle ends allowing the vehicles to be run without creating a smoke filled shed. There are plenty of mechanical parts up the centre including air receivers, heaters, starter motors, a radiator and board with a variety of gaskets.
