A BR Derby 4-car DMU passing Northwood station with the 10.05am Aylesbury to Marylebone train on 17 June 1962. This was the opening day of the Metropolitan Line modernisation between Harrow and Watford South Junction and the new station platforms on the right came into service on this day. Work has already begun on demolishing the old platform canopy on the left.
