Leicester Midland, 25th May 1981. Another grey rainy day in the city. A Class 116 diesel multiple unit enters Leicester Midland from the north past Leicester North signal box and a forest of semaphore signals. This could be my train, the 08.00 train to Nuneaton. In 1981 The Leicester Gap was in full swing and multiple aspect colour light signals wouldn't replace the mechanical signals until 1986-7. In the right distance is Leicester depot with what look like mainly Class 25 diesels on shed.
