Passenger and freight at Whitlock's End. Pannier tank 9682, a stalwart of 84E Tyseley shed, is in charge of a pick-up freight from Stratford upon Avon. At Whitlock's End station a brand new DMU is heading for Henley-in-Arden, it's white roof unblemished and speed whiskers not added. This is a Derby suburban 2nd series set with 2 character reporting code box, (B0) on this, these were in service by 1958. Whitlock's End (Halt) was a little used station built entirely from wood, it had a footpath that ran along the embankment top (still there but 'difficult') Today the station has been totally rebuilt with disabled access ramps and direct steps to the massive car park, the field to the right on this shot. Trains now terminate here giving a service to Birmingham every 20 minutes and to Stratford every hour. The DMU in this picture was replaced by Pacer units (class 150) in the mid 1980's these in turn, were phased out by Class 172 units. Image tak
