Then as now Birmingham Moor street station was a fine building. In this 7th December 1979 picture a Tyseley class 116 DMU (set TS524, presumably 50103 + 59024 + 50066) is waiting for 21.00 when it will leave for Leamington Spa. The platform it was taken from still has a terminal road but behind the fence to the right is the new part of the station and that is the through line to Snow Hill station, at the time of photography this was the old carriage sidings. Behind the station the back of the High street Co-op store is dominant, the Rotunda is still there of course but the area of car parking (far left) is now a dual carriageway and Selfridges thoughtful addition to the Birmingham landscape.
