Clayton West Station was opened 1st September 1879 by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, it was closed by BR on 24th January 1983. In 1992 it was re-opened as part of the Kirlees Light Railway. The station lay at the end of a 3.5 mile Branch from Shepley Junction. In this picture from 5th June 1981 a Metro Cammell unit is about to work the 16.37 service to Huddersfield.
