The third image from a strip of four negatives showing the Davey-Paxman diesel electric set, circa late July 1957, taken between Haughley and Colchester. A rare interior view, showing that there was no passenger accommodation inside. The large pipe going to the ceiling conveyed the exhaust gases from the engine below. The various controls included text such as "Please consult Paxman rep before starting engine" and "Do not close switch without first consulting BTH".
