As was often the case in 1985 I had no idea that this DMU special was running until the signal for the up main line at Leamington Spa on 1 June 1985 flicked to green. It wasn't hard to work out that it was a private charter for the Ffestiniog Railway Society and the station supervisor told the small group of spotters and photographers that it was its way to an event at Didcot Railway Centre.
