On a very dreary 7 April 1958 Peter photographed one of the new 3 car Derby suburban units (later class 116) working a service to Henley-in-Arden. These trains terminated at either Henley-in-Arden, Stratford-upon-Avon or Honeybourne. The station is name Earlswood Lakes here, this was later changed to plain "Earlswood" because the next station is "The Lakes". The station was large by country standards and had a signal box beyond the footbridge and a goods yard, the gates of which are seen to the left, cut by the station building. The embankment, far right, has a very large GWR water tank to feed the water crane in the foreground, this crane was vital as this station was the point where an assisting engine added at Stratford-upon-Avon, would be taken off, watered and returned light engine to await another duty.
