Contrasting front end designs are shown in this image of two Class 108s in platform 3 at Wigan North Western with a Liverpool Lime Street service, March 1982. Most obviously the unit on the left has a roof mounted headcode box, by then obsolete, whereas the unit on the right has a window to display a destination blind.
