After photographing from the bridge taking Appley Lane North over the railway, a short way further on I crossed the canal via Gillibrand Bridge and took the footpath which soon passed over the railway. A 4-car DMU led by a Class 108 was photographed here with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service. 22nd August 1984.
