Class 101s (and 108) at Haltwhistle, early-mid 1970s. As the destination blinds show, nearest the camera is a Tyne Valley line service from Newcastle to Carlisle (101 / 108), and the other (behind) is for Alston. The branch line from Haltwhistle to Alston, which operated as a long siding with no signals, closed on 3rd May 1976.
