A Class 101 at Whitby in October 1978. Still unrefurbished and in blue livery, this unit has just arrived from Middlesbrough. Plenty of history in this image, with orange BR NER signage, station accessories / equipment plus all the tracks into the station terminus are still intact. With diminishing services, the station was later rationalised to just the single track on the left. However, the platform at which this unit is standing was restored to use in 2014 for NYMR services.
