A Class 101 DMU at Dunston, Tyne & Wear, in November 1987, seen with a westbound Tyne Valley service. This 3-car example carried a West Highland Terrier logo on the centre car, the symbol of Eastfield (ED) depot, Glasgow, suggesting it was a recent transfer from Scotland immediately pressed into service. Anything other than 2-car formations were also rare in the north-east by this stage.
