The reason I took this at the time is because it was the only BRC&W vehicle, definitely in the Northwest, that still retained its original two-figure route indicator which necessitated the use of a tail lamp, as seen here. Seen leaving Manchester Victoria ECS after arrival from Liverpool, allocated to Newton Heath M53428 was withdrawn a few months later. 13th July 1985.
