On 16th May 1970 a Park Royal class 103 DMU forming a Blaenau Ffestiniog to Llandudno Junction service passes the abandoned Llechwedd exchange sidings at the foot of the narrow gauge railway incline and is about to enter Ffestiniog Tunnel, at 2 miles and 333 yards long.
