Passing through Buxworth cutting heading up towards Chinley on the Hope Valley line, is a Hull Botanic Gardens (BG) based 1960 Swindon built class 123 Trans Pennine dmu with a Manchester Piccadilly-Hull Paragon service in 1983. These units were all taken out of service in May of the following year and their duties taken over by class 31/4 locomotive hauled services.
