A Class 116 dmu (50822 presumably leading with 59330 + 50881) northbound on the Troon avoiding line, Lochgreen Jn. on 07-11-82. Image by A.Wilson. This view shows a train probably an empty stock working avoiding Troon on the loop line. Lochgreen Junction with its signal box is in the background. This was the original main line and was superseded in 1892 when the loop was built, bringing the passenger station into the town. This avoiding line closed shortly after this, on 28-11-1982, in preparation for re-signalling and electrification.
