A 4-car set approaching Ampthill tunnel on down main. Thought to be taken in 1960, at a time when 115s were also used on the St.Pancras - Bedford services. The underframe arrangement on the first vehicle seems to suggest this is a Class 115. Photo by Jim Lawrence. Ian McDonald Collection.
The vehicle is identified as a BSO (Brake Second Open) from a QUAD set. It was new 6-10-59. That date, the weight of 40 tons, and the wings on the seat headrests show this is what will later be known as a Class 127. Note the lining ended in a semi-circle rather than being squared off at the corners. Taken possibly at Ampthill before closure circa 1959 by Jim Lawrence. Ian McDonald Collection.
A brand new Gloucester RC&W parcel car heading a Derby suburban quad set passing through the closed Ampthill station. Date unknown - all four of these un-gangwayed cars were listed as new to Cricklewood on 9 January 1960. Stuart Mackay Collection.
