A formation of at least eight vehicles in no less than three liveries clatters through the Welsh scenery near Barmouth Junction, circa 1980. Starting from the front car (furthest right), they appear to be: Class 108 DMBS, Class 104 TC(L), Class 108 DMC(L), Class 101 DMBS, Class 101 DTC(L), Class 101 DMBS, Class 101 TS(L), then the vehicle conveying the photographer. Barmouth on Sunday 20/8/1972. In a more enlightened era, Sunday services were offered to West Midlanders to enable them to spend a day on the Cambrian Coast. This 101 unit (with TY400 closest, presumably (50321 59114 50303) is preparing to run into Barmouth were it will work back to Birmingham New St. Another unit (CR251) rests in the excursion platform. By September 1987 nearly all passenger trains on the Cambrian Coast were worked by Class 150 Sprinters, but this is a "heritage dmu" (formed 53102/59591/53850) crossing Barmouth Bridge on the 14.10 Machynllech - Pwllheli on 2 September 1987.
