Derby, Metro-Cammell, BRCW and Cravens DMUs at Filey Holiday Camp circa 1970. The Butlins Holiday Camp and associated station are long closed. John Grey Turner.
A scene at Filey Holiday Camp, situated on a triangle off the Hull-Scarborough line, in the early 1970s. On the left is a Cravens DMBS (Scarborough on the blind) with several Met-Camm vehicles behind. On the right is a five-car TransPennine DMU (no buffet car). The station closed on 17/7/77. John Grey Turner.
This view of Filey Holiday Camp station was taken on 14th June 1975 and shows two DMU combinations, one of which was an incoming service from Leeds, and the other an outbound service for Liverpool. The closest rake is a four-car BRC&W set with a three-car Met-Camm, the other is two four-car BRC&W sets. The KDH Archive.
A truly dreadful photo with camera shake owing to the low speed necessary in the low light shows a pair of 4-car diesel units at Filey Holiday Camp on 18 June 1977, one month before the station closed. The station was at the end of a short branch from the Hull to Scarborough line and this train has come from one and is bound for the other, but I cannot remember which. The rear coach, which would have been leading on arrival, says "Scarborough" on the destination blind so this may be a northbound working. Nearest the camera is a refurbished Derby set (class 108) while a blue BRCW set is on the other end. This latter was a 3-car class 110 "Calder Valley" with a class 104 trailer added. Jeremy Chapter.
