23rd September 1994

Vehicle: 51656   Set: L752

Vehicle 51656 was delivered new to Cricklewood East Depot in April 1960 but had spells at Trafford Park and Allerton Depots before moving back south to Marylebone in June 1961 where it stayed until the depot closed and units were moved to Bletchley in 1988. It was transferred on paper from Bletchley to Old Oak on 21/1/92 but the move never took place and it remained allocated to Bletchley for a few more months before being withdrawn on 17/12/92. Like many of its type it ended up dragged to South Wales after being sold to Gwent Demolition Ltd for disposal. The company used sidings in the Margam Yard complex to break up many former Network SouthEast multiple units. It arrived on 6/4/93 and after being torched by vandals lingered a further two years before the inevitable when it was finally cut up on 30/6/95. It is seen here on 23 September 1994. Adrian Nicholls.
