A Metro-Cammell DMU departs from the small station of Hammerwich on a grey 2nd December 1963, it is forming a Burton-upon-Trent to Wolverhampton train. Hammerwich lies mid-way between Lichfield and Brownhills, the station opened in 1845 and closed when passenger services ceased in 1965. It had a substantial house and booking/parcels office, platform accomodation being provided by two differing styles of wooden shelter. Today the station house has been renovated and is still occupied as a private house, some track remains in place but sections of it have been removed. Image taken by Peter Shoesmith.
