Two DMUs in Helsby station on 15 April 1972. On the left the Class 108 is on a Wirral Railway Circle tour that would also run from Liverpool Central to Gateacre service, this was the last day of that service. The DMBS closest is carrying set number AN141, the DMCL is believed to be displaying AN142. The Class 101 is set CR203. Stuart Mackay Collection.

An unusual photo showing a very long formation formed neatly of Class 101 & 108 vehicles all carrying the short lived refurbishment livery. The occasion was a schools special from Scarborough to Chester returning through Helsby, 9/7/76. The 8-car formation was 50169/59306/59075/50161, 56191/50619 & 51230/56369. Anthony Griffiths.
A fairly rare photo of a Park Royal formed into a (hybrid) 3-car set. 50406 is with Met Camm Class 101 vehicles 59131 & 50337,at Helsby on the 09:38 Runcorn - Chester service (date unrecorded). Notes on the back of the original photo record that 50406 replaced 50320 in the set, the latter being subsequently paired with 56080. Anthony Griffiths.
