Two Derby Lightweight (later Class 108) sets with a Liverpool service (and so likely Allerton sets) in Manchester Central probably in the mid-to-late 1960s. All four vehicles have the BR logos on the cab doors and three inch numbers, one has a full yellow end and at least two just yellow panel. Steve Davies Collection.
Taken from the signal box at Manchester Central on 3rd May 1969 a 3x2-car DMU formation is captured leaving the station heading west. At least the two closest sets are Class 108/104 hybrids, the Class 104 DMBS in the centre set has yellow cab doors. Manchester Central would close two days after this picture was taken, today Metrolink trams run where the dmu is. Andrew J Crowther.

One of the six Allerton allocated Derby 1960 built class 115 high density dmu's (the set number seems to read AN610) is captured arriving into the 9 platformed Manchester Central station, which was built by the Cheshire Lines Committiee, opening on the 1st July 1880 and closing on 5th May 1969. It has since been converted into an exhibition and conference centre, opening as G-MEX in 1986 and now renamed Manchester Central again. Andrew J Crowther.

Met-Camm and (blue square) Derby Lightweight DMUs in Manchester Central station. Date unknown but the mix of blue (Note the BR logos are on the cab doors) and green liveries suggests mid to late 1960s, the station closed in May 1969. DMU services from here went to Chester and Liverpool (were there others?). Stuart Mackay Collection.

Class 108 DMU set LT330 departs from Manchester Central. It has Chester on the destination blind and looks like a Class 100 on the rear. The date was recorded as 6 August 1969 yet the station is listed as having closed in early May 1969. Harvey Scowcroft / Nigel Valentine Collection.
