Two of Tyseley's Class 116 dmus, led by 53079, crosses the Grand Union canal on 3rd July 1984. The photograph was taken from the charmingly named Artillery Street, the train is approaching St Andrews Junction. To the left is the back of Carrs paint factory whose aroma, mixed with a stagnant canal on a warm summers evening, was rather distinctive. The area to the right was densely packed terrace housing in Wolseley street, recently cleared in this picture. The whole area has changed with new modern houses both sides of the canal, Carrs paints having also been demolished. Geoff Dowling.
