Allocation of vehicles to Regions.

The Chairman said that the purpose of the meeting was to agree a recommendation for the allocation of the diesel rail buses, in the light of the decision of the Commission to change the number of vehicles to be bought and the size and number of individual contracts. It was agreed that the vehicles should be allocated as under:-

  MANUFACTURER   REGION.
       E.   Sc.   L.M.   W.   Total.

  W.M.D.   5   -   -   -   5
  Wickhams Ltd.   -   5   -   -   5
  A.C. Cars Ltd.   -   1   -   4   5
  B.U.T.   -   1   4   -   5

      5   7   4   4   20

Mr Stewart stressed the uregnt necessity for diesel rail buses to be made available for use in the Scottish Region at the earliest possible moment, and it was agreed that, although the ultimate allocation of vehicles should be as shown above, the first five cars available, irrespective of manufacturer, would be forwarded to the Scottish Region, being returned to the owning Region as the Wickham cars were delivered.

In view of the greater need for vehicles of this type in the Scottish Region it was agreed that the two prototype rail buses being built by the Bristol Company would also be allocated to the Scottish Region.

Estimated delivery dates.

It was noted that no up-to-date information was available as to the delivery of the vehicles from the various manufacturers, but Mr. Andrews undertook to ascertain when the firms anticipate delivering the first vehicle and the rate at which they would be delivered thereafter.
