Metropolitan Cammell

Order Numbers

Order number document

These are taken from an London Midland Region document dated 17th August 1961 (pictured).

The codes in the table are an early form of vehicle type designation:
A3 - DMBS, B1 - DMCL, B2 - DTCL, D - TSL or TCL, E3 - TBS

BR placed five orders for DMUs with Met-Camm, these are looked at in more detail on the Class 101 Orders page. Note the data in the table suggests that the fifth order (seven 3-car sets for the ScR) was considered by Met-Camm as an extension of the fourth order since the same internal order number was used.

Note that in the first part of the second order from British Railways (Met-Camm order numbers 17831-5) each of the five different vehicle types is given its own order number. In the second part just two order numbers are used for the five vehicle types, one for powered and one for non-powered vehicles. On the other orders one order number is used for all vehicle types.

The Blue Pullmans are not listed, the only Met-Camm order number I have came across for them is 18870.
