Class 117 DMU at Rhymney

2nd May 1979

South Wales valleys line bashing - Maytime and it's snowing quite heavily! This is set C451 (presumably 51380 + 59371 + 51338) at Rhymney on 2 May 1979. This pic was taken less than an hour after I had been at Coryton in 70 degree heat. Alistair Ness.

Class 117 DMU at Cardiff

6th August 1979

The 10.48 Barry Island - Treherbert service arrives at Cardiff on 6th August 1979 formed of set C451 (W51338 + W59371 + W51380). Gerard Fletcher.

Class 117 DMU at Penarth

12th April 1980

Refurbished Class 117 DMU set C451 (51380 and presumably 59371 + 51338) drops off its passengers at Penarth with the 14:26 from Cardiff Central on 12 April 1980. Robert Thomas.

Class 117 DMU at Barry

circa 1981

C451 was formed of vehicles 51338, 59371 and 51380 and is seen here arriving at Barry station in the very early 1980s. Curly42.

Class 117 DMU at Taffs Well

1982

A Class 117 set arrives into Taffs Well station in early 1982. The DMBS is W51338, so it is presumably set C451 with 59371 + 51380 which would be transferred to Bristol in mid-May for the start of the summer timetable. Michael Mensing.
