South Wales valleys line bashing - Maytime and it's snowing quite heavily! This is set C451 (presumably 51380 + 59371 + 51338) at Rhymney on 2 May 1979. This pic was taken less than an hour after I had been at Coryton in 70 degree heat. Alistair Ness.
The 10.48 Barry Island - Treherbert service arrives at Cardiff on 6th August 1979 formed of set C451 (W51338 + W59371 + W51380). Gerard Fletcher.

A Class 117 set arrives into Taffs Well station in early 1982. The DMBS is W51338, so it is presumably set C451 with 59371 + 51380 which would be transferred to Bristol in mid-May for the start of the summer timetable. Michael Mensing.

British Rail 'Derby Suburban' set C319 (53918+59371+53868) is seen at the terminus station of Penarth waiting to depart north with train 2C83 the 11.30 to Merthyr Tydfil on 24/04/84. This station had become a single track branch from Cogan Junction after track rationalisation by British Rail which followed the closure of the section south from here via Sully to Cadoxton on 06/05/1968. The former down line track bed still being evident in the foreground. Adrian Nicholls.
