In a then everyday scene, with rolling stock that now is no longer in service, this was the view from the footbridge at Manchester Piccadilly on February 28th 1992 before the station roof was given a refurbishment. Regional Railways liveried Class 305 305507 was awaiting departure with a service to Glossop and Hadfield, while in platform 1 was a two-car Class 108 formed of cars M54275 & M51421 (LO253), on a service to New Mills Central. Martyn Hilbert.
Seeing out its last days working from Longsight Depot as set LO253, and working mainly on local services from Manchester Piccadilly, Class 108 cars M54275 & M51421 were awaiting departure from platform 1 at Piccadilly with a service to New Mills Central on February 28th 1992. They (and other life-expired first generation units), were kept in service due to the then ongoing problems with the Class 142 Pacer fleet. Martyn Hilbert.
Two two-car Class 108 DMUs at Carlisle in June 1992. Closest is set LO253, presumably 54275 + 51421. George Woods.
