The 47 is on one of the two morning London services, the other was usually stabled in the station area, whilst the DMUs, the first one being a class 117 (set B432, presumably 51412 + 59522 + 51370), formed either the early morning Cardiff or Birmingham trains. Tyseley allocated class 117 unit T307 has just reversed at Lichfield Trent Valley high level in readiness for return towards Birmingham on autumn day in 1989. The unit formation is believed to be 51412, 59522 and 51370. Bob Belcher.
Class 117 T307 (51412 + 59522 + 51370) as it paused at the completely wood-built Cosford station on 29 November 1990 with a Wolverhampton to Chester service on 29 November 1990. This station was largely built to accommodate servicemen and women based at the RAF station here. Little RAF flight activity uses the place now but it is a major training service and the home of a truly outstanding RAF museum hosting many attractions and an annual airshow. Peter Tandy.

There were diversions of Inter-City expresses through Worcester Shrub Hill on 29 March 1986 and amongst all the locomotive-hauled traffic were the usual DMUs. This picture shows class 117 set B432 formed of 51370 + 59522 + 51412 arriving at the station with a Birmingham New Street to Hereford service. Note that the calling-on arm of the signal part way down the post is in the "off" position rather than the main arm to allow access to the platform prior to a reversal and journey through Foregate Street towards Hereford. The 15:25 Weymouth - Taunton service is a nine-car formation with Class 118 B464 (W51321 + W59473 + W51306) at the front followed by Class 117s W51370 + W59522 + W51412 / W51339 + W59492 + W51382. Seen at Yeovil PM on August 10th, 1986. Hamish Stevenson.

When this picture of class 117 T307 (51370 + 59522 + 51412) approaching Cosford station on the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line was taken on 29 November 1990 class 150 Sprinters were beginning to make their presence felt across the West Midlands. At the same time class 20s on MGRs serving Ironbridge Power Station were in the process of being replaced with class 58s and it was to record both types of train that I went onto this line on several occasions. It's not hard to work out where the DMU was going having left Wolverhampton a bit earlier in the morning. Peter Tandy.
Most of the line from Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury was controlled by mechanical signalboxes in 1991 and the one at Bilbrook is just visible in the right background of this picture of Tyseley's class 117 T307 (51370 + 59522 + 51412) heading towards the West Midlands with a train from Chester on 31 August 1991. On 24 October 1992 Class 117 set T307 (51370 and presumably 59522 + 51412) is seen in Cardiff Central with the 10:50 to Nottingham. Robert Thomas.
"Eddie Knorn and I travelled to Birmingham for the last advertised day of first generation DMU services on the Cross City Line, where great things were expected. Unfortunately on the day, many of the services were in the hands of 'Centro' liveried 150s. Here Class 116 DMBS 51138, set T405, and Class 117 DMS 51412, set T307, are seen at Birmingham New Street on the final day, Sunday 29 November 1992 - only it wasn't the final day as it turned out, with another 'Finale' taking place in 1993."
