Class 120 + 108 near Paisley Gilmour Street Station, circa 1986. A class 108 leads a Swindon Cross Country out of Paisley on their journey towards the Ayrshire coast. This was the first time I saw a 108 in Scotland in modern times and its arrival (along with the Class 120s and other units) was one of the first visible signs of the start of the influx of DMUs from other regions to cover for the Class 107s during their temporary withdrawal with driving axle problems. The set number on the 120 appears to read 528, so the closest car should be 53722. Andrew McConnell.

A scene at Ayr station on 15/9/86, with a class 120 "scratch set", formed of 53722/59682/53742, waiting to work the 13.40 to Kilmarnock. Alongside is unit 101 321 (51249/59542/53146). Leonard Rogers.
This slide was simply noted as 'between Newcastle Emlyn and Llanyssul'. It is believed to be the Warwickshire Railway Society Central Wales railtour on 17 November 1968, taken on board Swindon Cross-Country 50722 (in green) looking towards a three-car Met-Camm unit (both power cars with BR logos on the cab doors). A couple of class 120 DMUs work away from Sutton Bridge Junction with a Shrewsbury to Hereford working on 3/6/1978. C601 leads, presumably 50722 + 50672. Stephen Burdett.
This pair of class 120 Swindon Cross Country diesel vehicles were fitted with headlights for working the Central Wales Line (now known as the Heart of Wales line) between Shrewsbury and Llanelli which operates under a light railway order to reduce infrastructure requirements. The lights are necessary for ungated level crossings which are crossed on a stop and proceed basis. Motor Second 50672 is nearest the camera; the other car is Motor Brake Composite 50722. Both were new in 1958 and withdrawn in 1987. Seen at Shrewsbury on 11 October 1980. Jeremy Chapter.
