Derby Lightweight two-car DMU set M79173 + M79674 at Manchester London Road. Date unknown, the vehicles arrived in the Manchester area in September 1957 and would spent time at Gorton, Reddish and Longsight before withdrawal in July 1967. Note the cab roof dome colours. On the power car they are the same colour as the roof, indicating they are formed from alloy. On the trailer they are white, indicating fibreglass. Stuart Mackay Collection.
M79173 is the power car in this two-car Derby Lightweight set seen north of Strines on a Manchester - Hayfield service, 19th June 1965. Michael Mensing.
