A Swindon Works image (negative 5CR69) showing the centre compartment in Inter-City trailer first W79471 on 1 May 1957. The trafolyte plaque under the alarm chain tells us the veneer is Golden Olive Ash from Europe. The compartment letter (D) is noted on the door. The curtains - which seem rather see through - have a decorative edge to them. British Railways.
