Recently withdrawn Swindon Intercity DMUs were boarded up (due to asbestos contamination) and dumped at Falkland Yard - a short distance from their former home of Ayr Depot - prior to transport to Meyer Newman (Snailwell) for scrapping. Sc51033 was withdrawn from service 3/1982. The Swindon Diesel Preservation Society received permission to remove parts from these units for the preserved Class 126 unit as long as we did not enter the vehicles or remove parts that would affect braking. Behind are two Cravens cars, 51476 and 51474, then Class 126 centre car 59394.
